A. Outreach to Grand Cape Mount County
The First United Methodist Church-Monrovia for the past five years (2002-2007) has been involved with the distribution of clothing, toys, footwear and food items to the needy, the children, the elderly andwomen. This vision of reaching out to the people during the Christmas Season was birthed by God through our able Senior Pastor, Rev. Erlene P. Thompson.
The 2007 Christmas Outreach was carried out in the
Cape Mount area on Saturday, December 22, 2007. The
team of evangelists headed by Rev. Thompson left
Monrovia 10:00 a.m. for Grand Cape Mount County. The
Outreach was carried out in six towns:
- Siafa-Keh Town
- Konjai Town
- Soquojai Town
- Gbongo Town
- Gbarforkeh Town
It is noteworthy to report that more than four hundred(400) persons were blessed. The recipients of the
gifts were very appreciative and expressed theirthanks to the FUMC. At the first stop in Siaffa-Keh,
the elders and residents pleaded that a school and achurch be erected since there was no school and church
in the town.
We departed Grand Cape Mount by 3:00 p.m and arrived
in Monrovia at 5:20 p.m.
B. Outreach to Marshall and Phebe Gray Orphanage Home
On Monday, December 24, 2007 at 1:30 p.m., the team
departed for the Marshall Road, Margibi County to
distribute clothing and toys with the children and the
elderly. Again, the people received the gifts with
gratitude. Following the distribution on Marshall
Road, the team went to the Phebe Gray Orphanage Home
where instructional materials, clothing and toys were
given to the children. The matron expressed her thanks
to the FUMC.
C. Assessment Trip to Siaffa-Keh Town, Grand Cape
Mount County.
From the appeal of the people of Siaffa-Keh Town, a
seven-member evangelistic team led by the Associate
Pastor, Rev. Julius Y.Z.K. Williams departed Monrovia
for Siaffa-Keh Town on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at
9:50 a.m. Members of the team included:
- Evangelist Milton B. Dunbar
- Bro. Amos Teah
- Sis. Myrma Siafolo
- Mth. Leticia Y. Brown
- Mth. Mary Nyemoh
-
Bro. Isaiah Wesseh
Upon our arrival, the elders and people of the town
wholeheartedly welcomed us. We immediately moved to
the town hall to discuss beginning with prayers and
introduction. The Chief of town, Fr. Sando Freeman
officially welcomed us and told us that Siaffa-Keh is
our town. During the discussions, the elders and the
people shared the following with us:
- Their first need – the establishment of an
elementary school. Their children have to walk more
than seven miles daily to go to school in Bomi County
at the Guthrie Rubber Plantations School. They also
informed us that they can make the man-power available
if any assistance will be given. The chief further
said that teachers can be recruited from the town.
The land for the Propsed School was visited by the
team. A little more than 75 persons are of
school-going age.·
- The second need – the establishment of a church.
Christians in the town have to walk a distance to
attend service.
- A Clinic to cater to the health needs of the people.
The population of the town is little over 200 persons.
At the close of the discussions, the team shared some
food items with the people. Again, the chief and the
people expressed their thanks to the FUMC.
The hope of the people of that town is in Christ. They
believe that Christ through the First United MethodistChurch can cause their town to experience
transformation of the body, soul and spirit.
RECOMMENDATION
While the Church is supporting other ministries, our
Lord will highly appreciate when the FUMC bring forth
a child. Therefore, we recommend that the FUMC makesSiaffa-Keh a mission field.
COMMENDATION
The Christmas Committee is very grateful to al leaders and members of the Church who supported the
last outreach program. May the good Lord bless you
abundantly.

only because you have caught the Vision of what the

the letter.
We were even able to put smiles on the
faces of our young children, the elderly, pregnant
women and the baby mothers in Cape Mount County during
the festive season by sharing with them what God has
blessed us with. They were over-whelmed with joy and
appreciated the gesture of the Church.
