FIRST UMC Monrovia EXTENDS A HAND
TOA BRIGHTER FUTURE
FOR THE PEOPLE OF THE FIRESTONE COMMUNITY

The growth of the First United Methodist Church is not limited to it structure on Ashmun and Gurley Streets in Monrovia and its membership, but also through the many ministries attached to the Church. Nearly three years ago, the people of the Firestone Community, a suburb outside Monrovia and near the Robertsfield International Airport, were hit with a hard decision to relocate from the Little Church near the Cotton Tree, Firestone Liberia. This congregation, being one of the smallest in the United Methodist Church, found this decision very difficult, if not impossible.

In search of a solution, they appealed to the Liberian Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church for assistance. After prayerful consideration, this appeal was forwarded to the First United Methodist Church, Monrovia. Remembering the words of Peter Marshall "LET US NOT BE CONTENT TO WAIT AND SEE WHAT WILL HAPPEN, BUT GIVE US THE DETERMINATION TO MAKE THE RIGHT THINGS HAPPEN", First UMC accepted the appeal, and adopted the Jerue United Methodist Church and immediately commenced fund raising and construction on the land provided by the Cotton Tree Community. Donations were received from Members of First UMC Monrovia, Liberian Community, The First United Methodist Church Monrovia-USA Reunion, and several other covenant partners to make this project a reality.

We congratulate and extend thanks and appreciations to all United Methodist in Liberia and abroad, non Methodist and all who contributed towards the construction of this great Church. We remember the words of Helen Keller:" When we do the best that we can, we never know what miracle is wrought in our life or in the life of another".
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU.
