My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
I greet you in the blessed name of our soon-coming King, Jesus the Christ.
Time goes so fast. Another Christmas has past and another is here. We have been blessed again by the Creator-King to enter another time of festive celebrations. And this is few weeks from now.
As we celebrate this Christmas, it is my ardent prayer and hope that we will celebrate this season in a christ-like manner. As we commemorate the birth anniversary of Jesus the Christ, I call upon all Christians especially leaders and members of the First United Methodist Church in Liberia, the United States of America and other parts of the world not to celebrate this season as the unbelievers do. Let this Christmas season draws our bodies, souls and spirits to the Lord Jesus.
As we enjoy ourselves doing this festive season, let me bring to your attention that this season is not for any of us but the Lord is the reason for this season. Many people celebrate the Christmas for various reasons; for us Christians, we celebrate because a Savior was born unto us for our redemption. As we merry make, let all that we do bring glory and honor to our Immanuel (God with us).
I want you to also prepare yourselves as we await the second advent of Christ. Jesus the Christ is expected to come soon. Let us order our lives in a way that when He comes we are ready to receive and be with our Savior. Let this season give us the strength to always be awakened.
My Associate Pastor, the Rev. Julius Y.Z. K. Williams, the Lay Leader, Sis. Mildred B. Reeves, the Council Chairperson, Bro. Eric D. Johnson, and the leadership of the Church extend season’s greetings to our Reunion members USA and our members in Monrovia and the rest of the world.
Before I conclude, let me extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to all our partners including St. Luke UMC and Troy UMC of the United States of America, leaders and members of FUMC Reunion USA, the leadership and entire membership of the First United Methodist Church for your spiritual, financial, and moral support for the year. It is my prayers that the Lord will reward you triple for all you have done to promote God’s kingdom here on earth.
May the good Lord bless the works of our hands.
Merry Christmas & A Wonderful and Blessed New Year 2009 |
